When We See A Problem... We Talk About It
When founded in 1988, HealthWorks Theatre (then known as AIDS Educational Theatre) brought together a community of committed artists and citizens who recognized the power of theatre to affect social change. These artists realized their creative vision could produce a meaningful and accessible alternative approach to the education of teen violence, drug and alcohol abuse, self-esteem, and AIDS prevention. They also understood how prevention must begin at an age when young people begin making their own choices about their bodies and future. It was not just a question of providing facts and information, but rather of offering crucial decision-making and conflict resolution skills.
